M.I.S.S.I.O.N. (Michigan Itinerant Shelter System-Interdependent Out of Necessity), is a self-governing community run by people that provide shelter and basic resources for those in need of support in some way. Many faith-based organizations donate food or comfort items each week to M.I.S.S.I.O.N. For my senior thesis in The Stamps School of Art and Design at the University of Michigan, I wanted to spend my senior year doing something that would make a difference in one way or another through documentary work. I discovered M.I.S.S.I.O.N. and decided to spend two to three days a week from September 2014 to March 2015 with this community, getting to know the people and their stories. I hope my documentary series and film helps M.I.S.S.I.O.N. to accomplish all of their goals through fundraising and awareness.
